Our Story
SenecaRooms first opened the door to our very first HMO in Colchester, Essex back in 2007, with a simple vision: to create stylish, friendly and genuinely homely shared houses where young professionals could feel comfortable, supported and proud to live.
Coming from a hospitality background, exceptional customer service was naturally at the heart of everything we did — something that, at the time, was still surprisingly uncommon within the rental sector. By combining well-presented homes with a people-first approach to tenancy management, our concept quickly gained momentum, allowing us to expand our portfolio across Colchester and beyond.
Over the years, we have personally built, managed and maintained our own portfolio of HMOs and single-let properties, gaining first-hand experience in every aspect of property investment and tenancy management — from compliance and maintenance, to tenant relations, refurbishments, licensing, profitability and long-term portfolio growth.
That experience became the foundation for SenecaLiving — a modern lettings and tenancy management agency built by landlords, for landlords.
